Lactalis is one of Canada’s leading producers of premium quality food products including milk, cheese and yogurt. We are currently recruiting for a Separator Operator to join our processing department in our production facility in Winchester, Ontario which produces butter, cheese, powder, and margarine.

Shift: 12-hours
(Saturday’s x1.5 and Sunday’s double time)

The ideal candidate will be part of a team working as a relief to cover vacations, leave of absences within the Cheese Plant.

Responsibilities Include:

• Follow safety procedures and work in a safe manner (LOTO, PPE, Guarding, etc.)
• Operate the HMI for the 640 line to ensure boxes sequence through the system as needed, trouble shoot issues as they arise to facilitate, improve and maintain 640-line efficiency.
• Operate the filling stations and ensuring that all boxes are filled to the prescribed weight for each variety of product produced.
• Move fillers from boxes on track 4 to empty boxes on track 1.
• Apply press angles to boxes on track 4, ensure clean supply of press angles are available.
• Hook up and initiate CIP circuits as required (filler, probes, vacuum chambers).
• Manually clean equipment as needed to make certain proper sanitation is completed.
• Clean tracks and floors in filling station area.
• Work with other employees on the line to ensure floors and equipment is cleaned and sanitized, as the cleanup sequences through the line.
• Complete PQMS documentation as required (metal detector, pre-operation inspection, vat sequencing, chemical titration’s, etc.).
• Work with the Cheese Makers to ensure a smooth transition from production to clean up and back to production.
• Perform entrant and/or attendant confined space activity when required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Key Attributes of the Ideal Candidate:

• Completion of secondary school (OSSD or equivalent)
• Able to safely operate mechanical devices
• Ability to quickly identify and take action in a safe manner
• Ability to safely lift up to 40lbs
• Previous experience in manufacturing, particularly in food industry, is an asset
• Flexible availability for all shifts
• Must be available to workdays, nights and weekends
