Job Description

Position: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Role Overview:

Associate, Business Development will work on new product planning activities for the company. This role will be pivotal in working as part of the Business Development team to develop and execute the long-term strategic plan as the company looks to increase the size of the portfolio in the coming five years. This individual will work as part of cross-functional teams responsible for sourcing and commercializing generic products that will fill gaps in the current portfolio and satisfy needs in the marketplace. They will also be critical for managing pipeline products with the expectation of executing on development timelines.

Specific Responsibilities:

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze confidential due diligence for business development efforts for the company’s portfolio including in-licensing, acquisitions, strategic alliances, out-licensing, competitive positioning, gap analysis, commercial evaluations, forecasting, valuation, alliance management, term sheet negotiations, etc.
  • Create and populate financial models for new product reviews
  • Participate in strategies for advancing commercialization approaches and executing long-term strategic plans
  • Work actively on ensuring that the company has the most competitive portfolio and development program in the industry
  • Assessment and prioritization of current portfolio based on market trends
  • Monitor and assess opportunities to build relationships with partners
  • Improve commercial competitiveness and efficiency of the company’s go-to-market approaches
  • Develop strategies for advancing the company’s assets to maximize their value and build best in class portfolio
  • Work on development and launch projects along with other cross-functional teams to ensure projects follow pre-determined completion timelines
  • Coordinate and prepare the company for Global Supplier Conferences
  • Assist with conference preparation including booking of meetings, conducting product analyses, identifying wish list products, and summaries of meetings
  • Organize and attend meetings with external partners and compile meeting minutes for follow-ups
  • Archive executed contracts, update and maintain the contract database
  • Maintain and archive IMS and provincial formulary updates
  • Liaising with pharmacy to procure samples, and shipment of product to external partners when necessary
  • Draft / update and review new product contracts and licensing agreements
  • Other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with equivalent work experience
  • 2-3 years of related experience
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, negotiation skills, strong capability of project management and problem-solving skills, sound risk management practices and a willingness to resolve issues and problems in a timely manner
  • Proficiency in building, utilizing and interpreting financial models and analysis to understand business impact
  • Prior work experience in the Canadian generic pharmaceutical industry with knowledge of product licensing and development an asset
  • Demonstration of high-level business ethics, influence and leadership, with an ability to self-manage and working well with cross-functional team members
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, comfortable & confident communicating at all levels
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and willingness to learn other data management software.
