Job Description

Ridge Rock Group is a commercial landscaping contractor servicing properties all across Ottawa. Our management team seeks to become one of the largest property maintenance companies in Ottawa.

We are currently looking to fill a role and find and operator to drive snow equipment such as trucks and loaders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Snow Removal Operations: Operate snow removal equipment, including but not limited to snowplows, front-end loaders, skid steers, snow blowers, and other heavy machinery, to clear parking lots, sidewalks, and other designated areas.
  • Ice Control: Apply salt, sand, or other de-icing materials using truck-mounted spreaders or by hand to ensure safe walking and driving conditions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment to ensure it is in good working condition. Report any mechanical issues or required repairs immediately.
  • Weather Monitoring: Keep up-to-date with weather conditions and be prepared to respond quickly to snow and ice events. Maintain communication with the supervisor or dispatcher for weather updates and job assignments.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure that snow removal and ice control tasks are completed safely without damage to property or equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of hours worked, areas serviced, equipment usage, and materials applied.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience in snow removal, landscaping, construction, or operating heavy equipment preferred.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license is required. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) may be preferred depending on the size of equipment being operated.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in cold, wet, and snowy conditions for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and perform physically demanding tasks such as shoveling and operating heavy machinery.
  • Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on weather conditions.
  • Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and safety.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of snow removal and ice control equipment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under time-sensitive conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with GPS or other navigation tools for large property layouts.
  • Knowledge of weather patterns and ice control chemicals.
  • Ability to perform minor equipment repairs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week

Additional pay:

  • Commission pay

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
