We are currently seeking a Diagnostics Laboratory Supervisor for our Gallant Custom Laboratories location!

Ceva Animal Health Canada established itself in Canada with the acquisitions of CentaurVA Animal Health and Vetech Laboratories in October 2011. Our Canadian presence expanded during 2019 when we acquired IDT Biologika subsidiary Gallant Custom Laboratories manufacturer of autogenous vaccines.

Ceva offers an expanding range of products for companion animals, poultry, swine, and ruminants for Canadian customers.

This role will support our manufacturing operations within Canada which produces vaccines for animals.

About the Job

The Diagnostics Laboratory Supervisor will lead the Diagnostics laboratory and innovation projects while service as an expertise center for internal and external customers.

Duties Include

Laboratory Management

  • Manage the Canadian Autogenous diagnostics activities to ensure that studies are performed at the right level of quality, in due time and within budget.
  • Ensure best in class practices are implemented within the Canadian Autogenous business, staying aware of competitors/ external trends and best practices.
  • Propose lab investments and development.

Projects

  • Assign core team members within the team to projects based on expertise.
  • Support and guide team members for strategic decision and risk assessment.
  • Liaise with other Autogenous Project Managers or Research and Development Leaders to maintain a high level of collaboration and ensure communication.
  • Propose innovative approaches and new scenarios when possible. Escalate in case of conflict (resource, technical) if needed

Protocol Development and Analytical Validation

  • Establish and validate specifications for the methods developed by their teams.
  • Approve development and/or validation reports.

Troubleshooting

  • Recognize and lead the investigation into problematic issues that arise within the Canadian Autogenous business.
  • Establish a cause and effect platform for investigation. Primarily responsible for resolution.

People Management

About You

  • You have a post-secondary degree in Biological Science or a related field
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a lab supervision role where people management was required
  • You have demonstrated microbiology work experience in bacteriology and virology
  • You are a clear English communicator with the ability to interface with Veterinarians and other Science professionals to answer customer inquiries
  • You have past experience in analytical method development and technical transfer
  • You have a working knowledge of molecular biology methods
  • You have past experience in Research and Development
  • You have strong analytical capabilities
  • You have demonstrated customer focus capabilities
  • You are organized with the ability to coordinate and direct projects through to completion.
