Duties

As a Food Service Helper, you will be part of the team as the delivery of food products to clients in a dining room and serving areas. Cleaning of food services facilities including equipment is required. You will assist in the receiving, unloading and storage of food items. Sounds like an interesting opportunity? The purpose of this process is to staff similar positions, for an indeterminate (permanent), term (temporary) or casual period in Valcartier and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu at the Department of National Defense.

EDUCATION:
  • Successful completion of two years of secondary school and/or
  • A secondary school diploma and/or
  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in institutional cooking OR Red Seal certification as a cook OR Level 5 (NQ5) military cook's certificate issued by the CAF.

Degree equivalency

TRAININGS:
  • Training in hygiene and sanitation
  • WHIMIS training
  • Basic food safety training
EXPERIENCES:
  • Work experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Experience as a supervisor
ABILITY:
  • Ability to solve simple math equations

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

  • Available to work irregular hours (on call), shift work, weekends and consent to work additional (overtime) hours on occasion.
  • Compliance of the Food Safety Code of Practice.
  • The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety regulations
  • Capacity to lift and manipulate material weighing up to 20kg in all respect of food practices
  • The candidates must respect and maintain the conditions of employment during the time of employment.
