Job Description

Art Is In is an edgy gastro-bakery inspired by the fine boulangeries of Paris and the funky cafes of Brooklyn. We specialize in hand made loaves and fine pastries and feature an ever evolving breakfast and lunch menu. Customers can come in simply to purchase bread and pastries, or they can order a meal and enjoy the whole experience.

We are seeking a full time Front of the House manager to help us create amazing customer experiences. Your must be available to work weekends.

Our service team works together so you may be working behind the counter one day, serving tables or behind the coffee bar showing off your latte art talents the next.

You must be available to work early mornings and weekends. Barista experience is a bonus.

FOH Manager l you will report directly to the operations manager. You will work together with the retail team leaders to ensure the successful day-to-day operation of the retail department. Communication is vital to the success of the department; daily communication is required to ensure all responsibilities are fulfilled.

You will:

· Always ensure highest quality customer service

· Manage special customer orders for all products

· Resolve & track complaints & customer feedback

· Manage allocation & flow of staff during service

· Maintain & develop relationships with suppliers & long-term customers

· Liaise with other department managers about activities & challenges to share information and find solutions in a constructive and productive manner

· Ensure cleanliness of restaurant at all times & manage maintenance tasks

· Work closely with all production areas to ensure highest possible quality of all products

· Organize promotions on all products

· Contribute to & implement marketing campaigns & promotional materials, including on social media

· Manage packaging & hot & cold beverage orders for whole of business

· Advertise, interview & recruit high quality employees, including long term planning

· Develop & maintain performance management plans with employees

· Train new staff & identify training needs of existing staff

· Open & close restaurant, end of day close on POS & safe drops

· Maintain & improve existing policies, procedures, checklists & software tools

· Employee coaching monthly; conflict resolution, address training needs, constructive feedback and set goals for month

· Capacity and willingness to challenge yourself, to adapt and change along with the needs of an evolving business

Skills, qualifications & competencies

· Passionate about bread, pastries, comfort food & coffee

· Integrity and commitment to the business’ success

· Keen sense of leadership & ability to motivate, and lead by example

· Proven self-starter with a desire to resolve problems

· Ability to delegate, multi-task & meet changing deadlines

· Exceptional customer service skills

· Demonstrated capacity to handle high pressure situations

· Clear & effective communicator in written & spoken English (basic spoken French an asset)

· Basic skills in Windows, iOS & the Office suite and social media (preferred)

· Valid driver’s license (preferred)

· Must be available for full time hours, Tuesday through Sunday, and open to various locations including daytime retail, pizza nights and occasionally farmers markets

Work experience

5+ years’ hospitality experience

2+ years management experience

Experience as barista (preferred)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
