Job Overview:
Gander Grow Co. is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Market Manager for the Gander Farmers Market. This position plays a key role in the success of the market by overseeing its day-to-day operations, managing vendor relations, and ensuring a high-quality, community-focused experience for both vendors and customers. The Market Manager will also lead marketing and promotional efforts to increase market attendance while supporting Gander Grow Co.’s mission of fostering a sustainable and vibrant local economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Market Operations:
- Manage the weekly setup, operation, and teardown of the Gander Farmers Market.
- Ensure smooth market operations, resolving issues that arise with vendors, customers, or logistics.
- Supervise the market space to maintain cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Vendor Coordination:
- Recruit and onboard new vendors, maintaining a diverse and high-quality mix of products.
- Communicate regularly with vendors, addressing their needs and ensuring compliance with market policies.
- Develop and manage vendor contracts, spaces, and assignments.
- Marketing and Promotion:
- Plan and execute marketing strategies, including social media, email newsletters, and community outreach.
- Organize special events and promotions to increase market visibility and attendance.
- Work with local media and community organizations to promote the market.
- Customer Engagement:
- Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors, addressing feedback and enhancing the market experience.
- Conduct customer surveys and collect feedback to assess satisfaction and areas for improvement.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage market budget, track expenses, and handle vendor payments.
- Prepare weekly reports detailing market performance, vendor participation, and customer feedback.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant local laws, regulations, and insurance requirements.
- Community Relations:
- Act as the public face of Gander Grow Co. and the Farmers Market, representing the market at community meetings and events.
- Develop relationships with local organizations to build partnerships and attract new customers and vendors.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in event planning, operations management, or community development.
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and think critically.
- Marketing and social media experience is an asset.
- Familiarity with local agriculture, small businesses, or farmers markets is preferred.
- Proficiency in basic accounting or bookkeeping tasks.
- Proficiency using a computer and tech savvy
Working Conditions:
- The Market Manager will work primarily on-site during market days and perform administrative tasks remotely or at Gander Grow Co.’s office.
- Availability to work on weekends is required, as the market operates weekly on Saturdays.
