Duties and Responsibilities of a Medical Office Assistant Include:
- Greet office visitors and manage patient intake
- Managing the clinic phone and email in a timely manner
- Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments
- Reading over and redirecting faxes when appropriate
- Some patient billing (i.e. non-OHIP fees)
- Maintaining medical inventory by ordering new supplies and equipment as needed
- Ensuring that patient information is up-to-date
Skills needed for this role include:
- Fast learner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent with computers
- Data-entry
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Experience using EMR software is an asset
Minimum educational requirements/knowledge needed for this role include(s):
- General healthcare and medical terminology
- Training in injections is a MUST
- Medical assistant certification is an asset
- Previous experience as a medical office assistant is an asset
