TERMS: Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours / week)

JOB PURPOSE:

The Resident Development Supervisor supervises, develops, facilitates, and monitors all programming and case management through all designated BC Anti-Human Trafficking Live In Programs, in accordance with agency and funder requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties:

  • Supervise designated live in programming for Anti-Human Trafficking Program clients, reporting to Director, Anti-Human Trafficking Programs.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, and provide orientations for departmental staff, conduct investigations & progressive discipline, and termination where relevant. Maintain confidential staff files & uphold BCGEU Collective Agreement.
  • Oversee financial resources of the department, including petty cash, visa reconciliations, and any other resources determined for program delivery
  • Ensure the implementation of the Case Management System/ Freedom Model as it relates to live in programming, including intake, goal setting, psychosocial rehabilitation, referrals, community collaborative case planning, legal coordination, networking, and other direct services to residents, transitioning and discharges, including appropriate use of rehabilitative and disciplinary measures and administration of drug testing
  • Delegate & coordinate completion of tasks to Staff as per their job descriptions, provide accountability & performance evaluation on an ongoing basis. Oversee volunteers & practicum students. Conduct case note audits & service delivery reviews as required by Director.
  • Establish and maintain proper database records and files, provide monthly Care Plan reports in collaboration with team, assist with Case Management Meetings. Support additional staff through interdisciplinary consultation.
  • Facilitate weekly life & living skills development sessions, develop curriculum, supervise clients, and monitor progress utilizing psychosocial assessments focused on developing ADL’s & PEO Fit.
  • Delegate & coordinate completion of tasks to Staff as per their job descriptions, providing oversight and responsibility for a case load of clients, fill in where required during absence of Manager
  • Work collaboratively alongside mental health and addictions programming
  • Establish and maintain proper database records and files, coordinate with staff to provide monthly Resident Care Plan reports and assist with Case Management Meetings. Provide information on the outcomes of the program and the progress of each resident to Management on an ongoing basis, and when required by funders
  • Develop case management tools and strategies to be utilized by Staff to support clients, provide oversight and monitoring of case management protocols for all residential Staff
  • Coordinate with staff all resident appointments, community referrals, and accompaniment; liaise within house and community resources, develop new agency working partnerships, encourage community involvement in programs
  • Support clients to access the criminal justice system and other avenues of justice and victim services support
  • Seek community donations and in-kind support for programming
  • Develop and implement multi-session orientations for clients as it relates to the residential program, boundaries, and day to day operations
  • Participate in recruiting, orientating, training, scheduling, and evaluating volunteers and practicum students
  • Ongoing maintenance of resources, facility library, and message boards
  • Hold monthly resident meetings and implement resident feedback and suggestions
  • Assist with events and programming as assigned by Supervisor
  • Attend promotional networking opportunities and training in the community as assigned
  • Monitor and ensure residential safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, violence and risk assessments, and policies & procedures.
  • Maintain the security, safety, and upkeep of the facility and grounds, including active involvement in operational health and safety
  • Provide statistical and evaluative information to management on a monthly basis
  • May provide back-up support to and or assume functions in other program areas as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful job applicant will have:

  • Completed an Undergraduate Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Services or another related field, or other equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years or more experience working in a Case Management system
  • Preferred 1 Year experience working in a Supervisory Capacity in a Live In Program
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet
  • Demonstrated experience in Program Development, evidence based research, creativity, and innovation
  • Demonstrated experience in Life & Living Skill, Addictions and Mental Wellness Support
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed practice and working with marginalized populations experience
  • Experience in immigration, fine arts, fitness, and donation acquisition an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a team environment
  • Must possess a valid Class Five BC Driver’s License
  • Must be able to obtain clearance from The Salvation Army’s Child Abuse Registry as condition of employment prior to end of probationary period.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/DEXTERITY REQUIRED:

The performance of the job requires moderate amounts of keyboarding and walking, climbing stairs, standing and lifting more than 10 pounds, but less than 20 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL RESOURCES:

The Resident Development Supervisor will prepare and adhere to budgets with respect to the departmental budget as required by Director.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR HUMAN RESOURCES:

The Resident Development Supervisor will be responsible as a group/work leader. They will be responsible for providing direction and monitoring results.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The incumbent’s work environment is typically in an office or a work site within residential and community settings, but will require accompaniment of residents outside of the facility.

The incumbent will work under the following disagreeable conditions:

  • Exposure to dirt, bodily fluids, bodily waste
  • Exposure to drugs and alcohol
  • Noise
  • Dealing with angry and abusive people
  • Verbal Abuse
  • Odours
  • Overtime with schedule affecting lifestyle

The incumbent will work on call for all resident based emergencies. This position is required to work in a stressful environment dealing with clients in crisis situations brought about by diverse problems. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure, while managing multiple concurrent tasks including emergency situations is an ongoing expectation of this position. Direct program activities may require a moderate level of physical fitness to effectively carry out the duties of the position.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS:

The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of moderate injury or illnesses due to:

  • Physical attacks by others (i.e. being attacked by a client/resident)
  • Exposure to infectious diseases
  • Exposure to toxic chemicals (some environments)
  • Exposure to bodily fluids
  • Sharp Objects (i.e. needle stick)
  • Other dangerous situations

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:

  • Certification in First Aid/CPR

PAY BAND : 4

TERMS : Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours / week)

HOURS : Sunday – Thursday (11:00AM – 7:00PM including 30mins. unpaid lunch break)
