Veterinary Assistant

Location: Strathmore, AB

Animal Care Centre of Strathmore welcomes a dependable and caring Veterinary Assistant to join our team full-time. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in an important support role for the entire hospital.

Education or Experience:

• Completion and achievement of Veterinary Assistant Certificate OR 3 years experience

• Assist and care for animals

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist DVM/RVT with medications, treatments, and specimen collection

• Aid in radiographs and taking vital signs

• Sanitize instruments, equipment, and maintain biosecurity

• Safely restrain animals and communicate technical info

• Prepare equipment, care areas, and surgical rooms

• Handle anesthesia monitoring, animal cleaning, and grooming

• Maintain logs and clean dental equipment

• Perform reception, billing, and clerical duties, perform yard and building maintenance

• Assist in large animal procedures

Working Conditions:

• Mainly in treatment areas; occasional outdoor tasks

• Work Monday-Saturday; potential overtime for emergencies

• Hours: 7:30 AM-6:30 PM (Mon-Fri) and 8:30 AM-3:30 PM (Sat)

Accountability:

• Reports to the Treatment Area Manager, Practice Manager, and clinic owner

• Performance measured by task quality, teamwork, and client satisfaction
