Job Description

The worker is responsible for the general cleaning maintenance of the Centre. Work will involve cleaning of all areas of the Centre (floors, walls, furniture, ceilings, etc.) The PSW is responsible for the labelling and safe storage of all chemicals as per WHMIS guidelines. The worker is responsible for stocking and the general tidiness of the Janitor rooms located on the three floors of the Centre. Work involves, but not limited to, garbage removal, snow shovelling of entrances, pick up and deliveries, etc.


  • Clean and maintain all aspects of the building
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
  • Clean and stock janitor rooms
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Clean windows, glass partitions and mirrors
  • Dust furniture, walls, equipment, machines
  • Mix cleaning solutions as per product guidelines

Other duties as assigned by management which is deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the Centre.

Seasonal Duties:

  • Snow removal from entrances
  • Gardening as required


  • Diploma or certificate from a janitorial program or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working in a medium size building; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • WHMIS Training
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team
  • Must have a strong ability to relate well to people; must understand and maintain clientele/worker boundaries
  • Must have ability to work independently
  • Must provide a record of a recent Criminal History check
